SARBANES ANNOUNCES GRANT TO BOLSTER CONSERVATION CENTER IN BALTIMORE
Washington, DC -- Congressman Sarbanes today announced that the Center for Aquatic Life and Conservation will receive a $200,000 “Brownfields” grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to assist in the clean-up of a 13-acre property that will house the Animal Care and Conservation Education Center, a waterfront and environmental demonstration park, a public-access trail and a fishing pier.

CONGRESSMAN SARBANES FIGHTS FOR BAY CLEANUP FUNDING IN THE FARM BILL
Washington, DC -- Today, Congressman John Sarbanes voted for, and the House of Representatives passed, the final version the 2008 Farm Bill (H.R. 2419). Congressman Sarbanes has worked within the Maryland Congressional delegation, to fight to increase Bay cleanup funding in the 2008 Farm Bill by more than $440 million.

STAR SPANGLED BANNER NATIONAL HISTORIC TRAIL PASSES THE HOUSE, AWAITS THE PRESIDENT’S SIGNATURE
Washington, DC -- Last night, the House of Representatives approved a measure to establish the Star Spangled Banner National Historic Trail in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The trail commemorates some of the most important events of the War of 1812 including the battle at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, which inspired Francis Scott Key to write the poem that became our National Anthem as he witnessed the fighting and the ultimate defeat of the British. The trail bill passed the Senate April 11th and now goes before President Bush.
