Meeting You in Maryland

November 4, 2022
The Sarbanes Standard

Dear Friend,

Greeting Marylanders at local events is one of the best, most important parts of my job. It’s always a pleasure to meet you and join events that raise awareness about important issues. Talking with you about the concerns facing your family and community helps to inform my votes in Congress.

Last month, I attended several events in Maryland’s Third Congressional District that I’d like to share:

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s brings together those whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer’s to foster community and hope. It was great to attend this year’s event at Sandy Point Park. I will always advocate for robust biomedical research funding and work toward a world without Alzheimer’s.

I also enjoyed my time at the Celebration Church’s Harvest Festival, where I met Bishop Robbie Davis, Pastor Larry Walker, members of the Divine Nine, Men in Ministry and other groups that build a strong sense of community in Columbia.

I visited the Howard County Food Bank to better understand the challenges in meeting the increased need for food assistance due to COVID-19 and rising prices. To support their important work, I continue working to boost federal food security and nutrition assistance programs.

The Bauder Education Center provides quality education to young Marylanders and delivers wrap-around services to their families. I had the opportunity to read to a classroom of students and remain committed to securing robust investments in Head Start programs to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.

October was Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Last month and every day, we celebrate individuals with Down Syndrome and their important roles in our Maryland communities. I enjoyed attending the Down Syndrome Association of Maryland’s Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk at the Inner Harbor.

Ellicott City is a vibrant community that has helped shape Maryland and our country throughout history. It was great to celebrate 250 years of Ellicott City by dedicating a time capsule to mark this important milestone.

Thank you for inviting me to join you at these events. I’m proud to represent such engaged communities in Maryland’s Third Congressional District. I will always work to create a stronger, more inclusive Maryland.

As always, for regular news and updates, follow me on Facebook and Twitter.

Sincerely,
