Your Social Security COLA

January 27, 2023
The Sarbanes Standard

Dear Friend,

Beginning this month, Social Security beneficiaries may see an 8.7% benefit increase, the largest single-year benefit increase since 1981. This historic cost-of-living adjustment will help Americans keep up with the rising costs due to inflation.

If you are receiving Social Security, you should have received a letter from the Social Security Administration detailing your specific benefit rate for the new year. The payment you received in January should reflect this new amount.

If you missed this letter, you can verify your increase online at https://SSA.gov/myaccount. If you have any questions or need assistance, please call my office at (410) 832-8890 or email us at https://sarbanes.house.gov/contact.

Social Security has made it possible for millions of seniors to live with security and dignity in their retirement. I remain committed to strengthening retirement security for all Americans and lowering costs for families.

My office is ready to help you access important information and resolve issues involving federal agencies. To stay connected with key resources, click here.
