DEADLINE: Register to Vote by Tuesday, October 13

October 5, 2020

Dear Friend,

I wanted to send a friendly reminder about Maryland’s voter registration deadline on Tuesday, October 13.

Our state offers several ways to register to vote:

  • Register Online: You can register to vote using Maryland’s online registration portal. (Must Be Submitted by 9:00 PM on October 13.)
  • Register By Mail: You can mail a voter registration application to the Maryland State Board of Elections or you can mail it to your county Board of Elections. (Must be postmarked by October 13.)
  • Register In Person: If you miss the October 13 voter registration deadline, you can register to vote at any early voting site or at any Election Day voting center. To register in person, you must present proof of Maryland residence using any of the following items:
    • A Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration-issued driver’s license;
    • A Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration-issued ID card or change-of-address card; or
    • A bank statement, paycheck, utility bill or other government document with your name and address listed on it.

See here for more information about how to register to vote.

Also, a quick word on voting by mail: If you plan to vote by mail this fall, you must apply for a mail ballot by October 20.

  • You can apply for a mail ballot online if you have a Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration-issued ID or driver’s license.
  • You can also apply by mail. The Maryland State Board of Elections is automatically sending mail ballot applications to registered voters. You can complete this application and return it in person to your local election board or you can mail the application to your local election board. (NOTE: The State Board of Elections recommends that you mail your application by October 15 to ensure it is received by the processing deadline.)
