Keeping Students and Teachers Safe
With the pandemic continuing to disrupt normal life, the beginning of the new school year poses significant challenges for students, parents and teachers.
As you and your families resume learning activities this fall, please know that I remain committed to providing Maryland schools, teachers and students with the resources we need to navigate this crisis.
Throughout the pandemic, I have worked with my colleagues to pass several COVID relief packages that included billions of dollars in federal funding for K-12 schools across Maryland. Most recently, I voted for the American Rescue Plan delivered nearly $2 billion to Maryland schools to provide students and teachers with reliable internet access and learning devices, address students’ mental health and academic needs and support efforts to reopen schools safely for in-person learning.
While we are not out of the storm just yet, I will keep fighting – relentlessly – to bring federal resources to Maryland schools and help keep our children, teachers and families safe.
I would also encourage you to do your part. The best way to protect our communities from COVID-19 is to get vaccinated. All Marylanders 12 and older are currently eligible to receive the vaccine. Help keep students healthy in the classroom by scheduling an appointment today.
As always, if you need help accessing important federal benefits, please send me an email or call my office at (410) 832-8890.
