Maryland Congressional Delegation Announces $4 Million for Family Planning in Underserved Communities

September 22, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) today joined the Maryland Congressional Delegation in announcing $4 million in federal funding to provide reproductive health care and family planning services to Maryland families in underserved communities.

Funding comes from the Title X Family Planning Program, administered by the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

"Access to safe and affordable reproductive health care is a basic human right," the lawmakers said. "This new federal funding will expand access to preventive care, cancer screenings and reproductive health care services in communities across our state. We will continue fighting to secure additional funding for family planning and we will work tirelessly to protect women's rights."

Title X Family Planning Program offers information on fertility, cancer screenings and contraception. See here for more information.
