WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) today released the following statement on President Obama’s recognition of S. Dallas Dance, Superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools, as a "Champion of Change" at the White House:

“Congratulations to Superintendent Dance for being honored by President Obama as a 'Champion of Change.' Our kids are growing up in a fast-paced, digital world that requires new skills and the ability to use technology in every medium. Giving them the opportunity to succeed as tomorrow’s fresh crop of inventors, engineers, and researchers must be a top priority in all Maryland schools.

“We know the best economic investments are the ones we make in the next generation of our workforce. Mr. Dance has dedicated himself to doing just that and I applaud the excellent work he’s doing.”

The “Champions of Change” program highlights individuals, businesses, and organizations doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their communities. Mr. Dance was chosen by President Obama as one of 10 educators from around the country who are taking creative approaches in using technology to enhance learning in America’s schools.
