Sarbanes Co-Sponsors Bill to Increase Pay for Federal Workers

FAIR Act Would Ensure that America’s Dedicated Civil Servants Receive the Compensation They Deserve

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) joined 8 Members of Congress as co-sponsors of the Federal Adjustment of Income Rates (FAIR) Act (H.R. 757), a bill to provide federal workers with well-deserved compensation for the vital and often unsung work they carry out every day on behalf of the American people.

The FAIR Act would restore years of lost wage increases and provide federal employees with a 2-perecent pay increase, in addition to a competitive locality pay adjustment.

“In the aftermath of the Trump Administration’s shortsighted and damaging federal hiring freeze, it’s more important than ever to recognize and reward the tireless and consequential work of America’s civil servants,” said Congressman Sarbanes. “The FAIR Act is a long-overdue and much-needed investment in our career civil servants – the hardworking, underpaid and often underappreciated men and women who work day in and day out in the service of our nation and its people.”
