WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) today issued the following statement on the Obama administration’s newly announced environmental protections, which will cut oil- and gas-sector methane emissions by 40-45 percent from 2012 levels by 2025:
“Methane is twenty times more concentrated than carbon dioxide and has a toxic effect on our climate,” said Congressman Sarbanes. “The administration’s new rules are a significant step toward reducing methane emissions by big oil and gas, and will help mitigate the cataclysmic effects of climate change.”
