Sarbanes Condemns Another GOP Special-Interest Giveaway to Wall Street [Video]
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives today, Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) spoke out against H.R. 3312, a partisan special-interest bill that would allow Wall Street and Big Banks to return to the same risky practices that led to the 2008 financial crisis.
“This is crazy,” said Congressman Sarbanes. “This is a case of amnesia at best, or cynical capitulation to Wall Street at worst.”
Sarbanes continued, “Americans are tired of watching this Congress forget the lessons of the 2008 financial crash, they’re tired of a Congress who routinely favors Wall Street over the interest of main street and they’re tired of the same worn out talking points that are used to justify deregulation of Wall Street. I urge my colleagues to oppose this bill.”
