Sarbanes Files Amicus Brief in Support of President Obama’s Clean Power Plan

Joins Bipartisan Group of Current and Former Members of Congress to Argue That EPA Has the Authority to Reduce Dangerous Carbon Pollution and Protect Public Health

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) joined a bipartisan group of current and former Members of Congress to file an amicus brief in support of the Obama administration's historic Clean Power Plan (CPP).

The CPP is currently being challenged in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in West Virginia et al. v. Environmental Protection Agency.

"The Clean Power Plan is a significant step forward in our nation's effort to reduce carbon pollution and address climate change," said Congressman Sarbanes. "I'm proud to join a broad and bipartisan group of former Members of Congress, legal experts, environmental groups, states, cities and businesses to highlight the necessity and legality of the Clean Power Plan, and to urge the court to uphold it."
