Sarbanes Kicks Off Older Americans Month with Tour of Arbutus Senior Center

Over the next month, Congressman will tour senior centers throughout Maryland's third congressional district

ARBUTUS – U.S. Congressman John P. Sarbanes (D-Md.) today kicked off a district-wide tour of senior centers and retirement communities with a visit to the Arbutus Senior Center. He met with members of the local community and talked with them about issues facing Maryland's aging population.

"This month, I look forward to hearing directly from Maryland seniors about what I can do in Washington to serve them and their families," said Congressman Sarbanes. "Whether it's Medicare policy, Social Security, or the broader federal budget, I will continue fighting for federal policies that do right by our nation's seniors."

The Arbutus Senior Center, which is managed by the Baltimore County Department of Aging, is Baltimore County's 20th and newest senior center. Daily programming includes educational, recreational, social and personal growth opportunities from fitness classes to daily lunches and game days.

The tour recognizes the U.S. Administration on Aging Older Americans Month, which lasts for the month of May.
