Sarbanes, Maryland Congressional Delegation Announce More Than $15.6 Million in Federal Funding for State Community Health Centers
(202) 225-4016
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) and the Maryland Congressional Delegation announced $15,635,030 to help Maryland’s Community Health Centers respond to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Funding comes through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
“Community Health Centers have a critical role to play in Maryland’s response to the COVID-19 crisis. Team Maryland is united in our effort to provide essential resources,” the delegation said. “This federal funding will help local health providers adapt to unprecedented demands and challenges as they provide quality, affordable health care services for individuals and families from the most rural parts of our state to the most urban.”
As part of the comprehensive federal response to the coronavirus pandemic, Congressman Sarbanes joined hundreds of lawmakers in calling on House and Senate leaders to boost federal funding for Community Health Centers and succeed in securing $1.3 billion in grants to CHCs to provide expanded health care services.
