Sarbanes, Maryland Congressional Delegation Announce Nearly $8 Million to Strengthen COVID-19 Health Equity Initiatives

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) today joined the Maryland Congressional Delegation in announcing $7,939,842 in COVID-19 relief funding to expand access to community-based health services in Baltimore City and Frederick County.

"This new round of federal COVID-19 funding will help improve the dissemination of public health information in rural and minority communities," the lawmakers said. "We will continue working to secure additional federal resources to strengthen public health and keep our communities safe."

Funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. It will help curb the spread of COVID-19, bolster COVID-19 vaccination efforts and strengthen guidance for public health measures in vulnerable communities.

Funding includes:

  • $4,000,000 for the Baltimore City Health Department
  • $3,939,842 for the City of Frederick
