February 17, 2011

The League of Conservation Voters announced today that Congressman John Sarbanes has received a 100 percent rating on their National Environmental Scorecard.

"I am proud to receive a 100 percent rating from the League of Conservation Voters on environmental issues," said Congressman John Sarbanes. "Our nation is facing a multitude of environmental problems and I will continue to fight for the protection of our natural resources and to encourage citizens to join my efforts."

Sarbanes has served on the Natural Resources Committee since he first came to Congress in 2007, and has worked to bring attention and resources to the Chesapeake Bay, Fort McHenry, the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge, and other natural resources in Maryland. He is the author of the Chesapeake Bay Citizen Stewardship bill and the No Child Left Inside environmental education bill, both of which are expected to be reintroduced in the 112th Congress. As a member of the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources he has fought against off-shore drilling in the Chesapeake Bay and called for accountability for oil company executives.
