Sarbanes Slams Trump Administration for Undercutting the 2020 Census [Video]
WASHINGTON, D.C. – During an Oversight and Reform Committee hearing today, Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) called on the Trump Administration to extend the response deadline for the 2020 Census to ensure that every community gets counted.
“It strikes me that this is the worst time to be taking time and flexibility away from the Census Bureau,” said Congressman Sarbanes. “We need to keep that deadline for the response follow-up – we need to have that extended through the end of October and we need the collection of the apportionment data and its transmission to be extended into 2021, which is what we’re trying to do to make sure that the Census is conducted in a fair and accurate way.”
