WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) released the following statement today regarding the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks:

“As we mark the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, we pause to remember the innocent lives we lost. We honor the heroes of that tragic day and mourn with the families of the victims. We also pay tribute to our troops and their families who have sacrificed over the past 20 years to keep us safe and strong. We should also remember the generosity and compassion of Americans who came together as a united people in the face of adversity. During this national day of service, my hope is that we can reclaim this spirit of unity by extending a hand to our neighbors. We are still facing challenges as a nation, but I know that we are stronger together.”
