Sarbanes Statement on Ellicott City Flooding

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) released the following statement today after flash floods swept through Ellicott City, Maryland:

"It is heartbreaking to see another catastrophic flood upend the lives of residents and business owners in historic Ellicott City. Earlier today, I joined Senator Cardin, Senator Van Hollen and officials from Maryland and Howard County to view the damage and hear from those who have been so tragically affected. As the full impact from the flood is assessed, the members of our Maryland Congressional Delegation will work diligently to secure federal emergency assistance to help this proud and resilient community recover."
