Sarbanes Statement on Federal Employee Antidiscrimination Act

July 12, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) released the following statement in support of the Federal Employee Antidiscrimination Act (H.R. 702), which passed the House of Representatives:

"This bill is a tremendous win for our nation's civil servants, and an important step forward in providing federal employees with equal protections under the law. The Federal Employee Antidiscrimination Act will strengthen Equal Employment Opportunity safeguards for federal employees, expand disclosure and enforcement authority of the organization and create a new system of tracking employee complaints. I was proud to support this bill and will continue backing legislation that provides our nation's hardworking civil servants with the compensation, benefits and workplace protections that they deserve. I look forward to the Senate's quick consideration of this important measure."
