Sarbanes Statement on the Passing of Former U.S. Representative John Dingell
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) released the following statement today on the passing of former U.S. Representative John Dingell of Michigan:
“We mourn the passing of the amazing John Dingell – friend, mentor and lifelong legislator extraordinaire. My thoughts are with Debbie and the entire Dingell family as we remember this great man.
“Not long ago, I had the honor of joining Debbie and John at the Washtenaw County Democratic Party Annual Dinner in Ann Arbor to talk about restoring a government of, by and for the people. I saw that night how beloved John was by so many Michiganders. The affection for him in the House of Representatives was no less and I am so proud to be among the many members of Congress who had the opportunity to call him a friend and colleague at some point during his six decades of service.
“John's legacy as a tenacious voice for the people will continue to echo in the halls of Congress for generations to come.”
