Sarbanes Statement on U.S. Court of Appeals Decision to Uphold EPA Carbon Pollution Rules, Findings on Climate Change

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman John P. Sarbanes (D-Md.), a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, today released the following statement on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia's decision to uphold the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) actions to limit greenhouse gas emissions based on scientific findings that show they are harmful to public health:

"There is overwhelming consensus in the scientific community that greenhouse gas emissions are causing climate change at a rate that is alarming and unsustainable. We cannot continue to ignore this growing problem and this ruling affirms EPA's authority to limit carbon emissions that cause climate change."

"Although I support action by EPA, it's time for Republicans in Congress to end the partisan political games that have long delayed climate change legislation and work constructively to find solutions that are rooted in science and protect our environment as well as the health and safety of American families."
