Sarbanes Statement on Yom Kippur

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) released the following statement in observance of Yom Kippur:

“On this day of atonement, I want to wish the Jewish community in Maryland, across America, in Israel and around the world a meaningful fast. As a nation, we can learn important lessons from this sacred holiday – including the value of introspection and humility, and the fulfillment that comes from enjoying the company of our family and friends. Yom Kippur is also an occasion to renew our collective hope, to join together on the long march toward equality and to continue working tirelessly to repair our world.
