WASHINGTON, D.C. – Chesapeake Bay Watershed Task Force Co-Chair Rep. John Sarbanes (D-Md.) released the following statement today after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) failed to fully respond to a Congressional letter, signed by Congressman Sarbanes, urging the EPA to fulfill its commitment to the Chesapeake Bay Program:

“Like many Marylanders, I remain deeply worried by the Trump Administration’s failure to meet its most basic commitment to the Chesapeake Bay and enforce pollution reduction efforts across the Bay Watershed. The Chesapeake Bay Program has made tremendous progress in limiting pollution, protecting local wildlife, reviving Bay ecosystems and improving Bay health. The Trump Administration must abide by the law and effectively enforce pollution reduction targets in the Chesapeake Bay.”
