Sarbanes Votes to Pass 25th Amendment Resolution to Remove President Trump from Office
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) released the following statement today after voting for H.Res. 21, a resolution he co-sponsored, demanding that Vice President Pence invoke the 25th Amendment to immediately remove President Trump from office:
“President Trump incited a deadly attack on the Capitol, seeking to disrupt the counting of validly certified electoral results from the 2020 election. Every day that he remains in office – even for the short period of time before next week’s Presidential Inauguration – Donald Trump poses a grave risk to the health, safety and security of the American people.
“If Vice President Pence fails to invoke the 25th Amendment to immediately remove President Trump from the White House, then Congress will move swiftly to impeach the President and fulfill our oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.”
