WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) and the Maryland Congressional Delegation announced $107,731,472 in federal funding for Maryland airports through the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This funding includes $87,643,261 for Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International (BWI). Funding comes from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which authorized $10 billion in economic relief for America’s airports in response to the COVID-19 crisis and the resulting 90 percent decrease in air travel across the country.

These funds will help Maryland providers acquire critical supplies to fight COVID-19, including testing supplies, personal protective equipment, and other medical equipment.
